A heart-centered way to claim your everyday joy, and keep the goodness flowing.

Bliss + Heart = Mindfulness

Bringing a simple mindfulness practice into your day is an amazing step toward your everyday peace-of-mind – often revealing insights that might surprise you, and change your whole outlook (and ultimately, life).

The practice included here is one of those fantastic mindful “aha!” moments I stumbled into…

I’d been trying out a daily quick mindful check-in practice on-the-go, and wasn’t getting perceivable life-uplifting benefits.

I used a standard mindful check-in, which is basically: Pause. Breathe. Observe. Let go.

This stuff has worked for thousands of years for people, so, I didn’t give up on the practice. I kept showing up for myself, observing the inner-life, connecting and calming within…

And not long after, during a practice, a new insight popped up.

 It was a game-changing revelation…

I was most always bringing my awareness to the stuff that didn’t feel good. “Oh, that sinking feeling in my gut again.” Or “tension in my lower back.” Or “Low energy, again! I need a nap, but don’t have time…”

Finally, I was noticing just how often my focus went right to my feelings and inner sensations of “off”, tension, fatigue, or un-ease. The everyday low level habits of worry, pushing, and stress that would creep in…

All valid awarenesses in themselves, especially if you have the time to mindfully allow and process.

The thing was, I was really only noticing this stuff. The yuck stuff.

And there was plenty of good inner-life, energy, and wellness to notice, too. I mean, my breath was flowing, my mind was working at a high level, my eyes were sharp, my legs were ready to stretch and walk… but did I go there? Not much in the day’s fast-paced rounds, if at all…

I only made time to focus on the issues, and not all the wonderful, beautiful, even magical potential within and around me.

And you know the old wisdom… what you focus on grows…

So I decided to add a step to this practice. After pausing, I would immediately connect with my Heart, usually just with my attention, or bringing touch to the heart when I could.

This also meant I was intentionally adding the higher qualities of the heart, most often “appreciation,” to my daily tasks.

And everything shifted.

In the present moment, with heart, everything became a little more precious, a sacred gift, or simply, bliss…

For instance, I found there is simple joy, even a miracle, really, of being here, in this time and space, just as I am, right now… The flow of breath. The blessing of vision. Rich, aromatic coffee (soo good!). The peaceful neighborhood. Birds chirping. My sound mind. Healthy heart…

The freedom to choose how open to love I want to be in this moment… All blessings. All bliss.

Even the everyday mundane stuff effused magic in this space, with heart.

“This Is Bliss” Practice:

A quick, heart-full way to check-in and keep the everyday magic flowing.

  1. Begin with making the heart connection. (Simply bring focus to your heart, practice heart-focused breathing or, put a hand on your heart.)
  2. Then, mindfully bring your attention to the task at hand, and appreciate any one thing (or more) about it.
  3. With light focus (and/or hand) on your heart, say to yourself, “This is bliss.”

The work I’m doing, my trusty computer, firing off emails, using my heart and mind… “This is bliss.”

The meal I’m preparing, the ample, nourishing food, the full, happy bellies… “This is bliss.”

The dishes I’m washing, the abundant water, the capable hands… “This is bliss.”

The beautiful forest walk I’m taking, my miraculous body in motion, my sweet, soo happy fur kid… “All bliss…”

The bliss-focused moments cause a ripple effect, moving into the next, and the next…

And the world expands.

You notice the true and inherent beauty of the moment – the love at the center of it all – within you, all around you.

It’s as if this conscious connection sets the flow of life’s highest good in motion…

simply by experiencing life with the eyes of the Heart.

The park you walk through. The neighbor that waves. The clear roadways we travel on. The stores that readily provide our wants and needs, the freaking amazing internet that connects the world…

And you can’t help but feel, “I’m a part of this bliss…

I am. So. Very. Richly. Blessed.”

May you go forth in bliss today. Big love, light and blessings to you!
